During a recent family gathering in Ohio we watched the Ohio State vs. Michigan football game. It is a near-religious experience for the entire state of Ohio, regardless of which college you attended.
During one of my post-game conversations (don’t dare get into a deep conversation during the game!), I reconnected with an old acquaintance, Linda Miely. Linda is a former teacher in Columbus, Ohio. She shared her philosophy from when she was still in the classroom.
Linda had a very simple goal: to help her students feel lovable and capable. I thought that was profound.
Whether we are in a classroom, a boardroom or a community room, we are well served to help each of our “students” feel lovable and capable.
It’s the simplest, fastest way to make the world a better place.
